Lauren Greenfield:

Lauren Greenfield is the author/ photographer of two critically acclaimed books, Girl Culture and Fast Forward: Growing Up in the Shadow of Hollywood, both of which powerfully deal with important social issues of our American reality. American Photo recently named Greenfield one of the 25 most influential photographers working today.

The photograph included in “Transitions” is a part of a project that Greenfield is currently volunteering her time and skill in. The project entitled “Turning Heads” is a compilation of photographs of women who have lost their hair to cancer treatment. Jackson Hunsicker, the woman behind “Turning Heads” claims that women shouldn’t have to feel ashamed or want to hide while fighting cancer. By capturing these women doing ordinary and extraordinary things, they are brought into the light and made visible, giving a face to women living with cancer.
